The Competence Center for Continuing Education in General Medicine North Rhine-Westphalia (KWNo) promotes the quality and efficiency of continuing education for specialists in general medicine and supports young doctors on their path to becoming contract physicians.
According to Section 75a of Social Security Code V, KWNo is an association of the following institutions:
- North Rhine Medical Association (ÄkNo),
- North Rhine Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVNO),
- North Rhine-Westphalia Hospital Association (KGNW).
and the five general medicine departments at universities in North Rhine-Westphalia:
- Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen University
- Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf
- University of Duisburg-Essen
- University of Köln
- University of Bonn (spokesperson)
These five universities regularly offer free seminars for doctors undergoing further training. The seminars focus on topics relevant to general practitioners, taking into account evidence-based medicine, the further training regulations of the ÄkNo (German Medical Association) and the competence-based curriculum for general medicine of the German Society for General Medicine and Family Medicine (DEGAM).
In the trainee program, doctors in further training learn everything they need to know about practice management. More information and registration details can be found here.
