Teaching practice – shaping the future now

Our qualified teaching physicians enthusiastically guide medical students during their block placements in general medicine, clinical electives, and practical year placements in general medicine. Training courses, regular continuing education, and, above all, teaching research conducted by the institute foster lively, collegial exchange. Our teaching physicians observe the University of Bonn's announcement on ensuring good scientific practice dated February 12, 2021, which can be viewed here  (password-protected for teaching physician practices).

Block internship

The block internship takes place in our affiliated teaching practices. Medical students in their sixth clinical semester spend two weeks gaining insight into the diverse everyday work of a general medical practice under the supervision of a teaching physician.

Every year, our teaching practices qualify up to 250 students as part of the block internship. Qualification is based on the standards set out in the “General Medicine Toolbox” developed by the Institute for Family Medicine.

Interested family practices in the region can qualify as teaching practices at the Institute for Family Medicine. We look forward to receiving your E-Mail!

Clinical internship in general medicine

Among other things, the licensing regulations stipulate a 30-day clinical internship in a general practitioner's office. Here you will find all the information from the DEGAM and the clinical internship exchange.

PJ Tertial General Medicine

The practical year/tertial in general medicine covers a period of 16 weeks.

This section can be credited toward subsequent further training in general medicine if the teaching physician's practice provides the institute with proof of valid further training authorization.
