The practical year takes place after students have completed their M2 state examinations. During the PJ Tertial in general medicine, students experience the varied everyday practice with a wide range of challenges over a period of 16 weeks.
Supervision and guidance is provided by a specialist in general medicine with further training authorization. For students planning to train as specialists in general medicine, it may be interesting to note that the North Rhine Medical Association fully credits the PJ tertial in general medicine toward the training period. The state examination is conducted by an appointed examiner in general medicine.
